My family is visiting San Francisco soon. We're looking for recommendations for a good whale watching tour...any suggestions? What else do you recommend we put on the itinerary? The warf, china town, and the zoo are ideas on the list thus far... Any other tips are welcome- thanks!

If you want to watch whales and wildlife from a kayak in Trinidad Cove, contact Kayak Zak's www.kayakzak.com or Humboats www.humboats.com
They both provide everything you need and have experience and insurance. I went with Kayak Zak's and had a really great time. My family had never kayaked before and they all just loved it too. My Aunt is from Oklahoma and had never seen the ocean before. She couldn't believe how cool it all is from a kayak.
I think there are also some charter power boats in the area.

Hi Maggie - lots of Whale watching boats are at pier 39 (at the warf)in SF., and Half Moon Bay (pilar point harbor) about 20 miles south of SF. You should plan to go accross the golden gate bridge and visit Sausalito. And take a ferry ride from the warf to see Alcatraz. Make it a point to see Golden Gate Park. It has two museums, beautiful grounds, and the new aquarium (a must see)Have fun!
