Where should I rent a cabin in Northern California?

I am planning to rent a cabin in northern California during the Christmas/New Year holidays- more for hiking, kayaking, fishing, etc. than skiing. Any recommendations?

I would check with www.vrbo.com. You can find all kinds of homes at various prices all up and down the coast to rent for a few days. I've used the service, mainly for out of California, but have been extremely satisfied.
